Freename Secures $6.5M Series A to Bridge Web2 and Web3 Domains

Swiss-based Web3 domain registrar Freename AG has closed a $6.5 million Series A funding round, signaling strong investor confidence in its mission to merge traditional DNS with blockchain-based domains. The round was led by Entrée Capital, with participation from Polymorphic Capital, Sparkle Ventures, Blockchain Founders Fund, and Golden Record Ventures, alongside new angel investors.

This latest investment builds on Freename's $2.5 million seed round in September 2023. The funds will accelerate development of key innovations, including a proprietary resolution protocol for seamless Web2/Web3 integration and a cross-chain collision management system for domain disputes.

Freename aims to enhance interoperability by making wallet-style addresses functional across mainstream browsers like Chrome and Safari. The company is also focused on improving user experience for domain registration and expanding its global footprint.
